Grinding Guide

Disclaimer: This guide is no longer accurate as of the Jun 18 updates.

Overview

Grinding refers to repeatedly fainting/running from wild Pokemon with a goal, for example hunting a Legendary or Extremely Rare Pokemon. When grinding in higher-level areas, team composition becomes more important; to ensure you can 1HKO consistently, deal with elites, and catch wild Pokemon safely. This guide will cover common grinding locations with ideal team compositions/strategies.

All calculations in this guide assume your Pokemon are level 100, have 252 EVs in the respective stat, and not using a detrimental nature (e.g. -Speed).

A note on run grinding: Ghost type Pokemon will now be able to run from encounters with a 100% success chance (if you have the option to run during that encounter). This means players can use the Ghost type Pokemon with the No Guard ability to have the effects of Illuminate while also having 100% chance to flee without needing an item.
