Swarms

Overview

Every 3-6 hours, a swarm of special Pokemon will appear on a random route for 2 hours. This consists of 3 commons, 2 uncommons, 2 rare, 2 very rare and 2 extremely rares, replacing the existing wild Pokemon on that route.

A swarm route also gains the following benefits for the duration (land encounters only, mining not included):

  • +25% encounter rate (reduced to +10% for legendaries)
  • +10% shiny rate
  • +25% more experience

While a swarm is active, a notification will appear in the top-left below the blessings.

All Pokemon on the swarm route have a chance to drop Beedrillite and Soul Shard (a crafting ingredient for Soul Shard (Enhanced)).

The following berries can be obtained by using lead Pokemon of certain types and defeating wild Pokemon on a map that has an active swarm. These berries have a 1/2,500 chance to drop with a fixed drop chance that cannot be increased by any means. If a Pokemon contains two types then it will roll every eligible berry per encounter therefore it is highly recommended to use dual types when grinding berries. If a Pokemon changes its typing mid-battle this will not change the eligible berry drops, for example if a Gyarados mega evolves you will be eligible for the Water and Flying berries not the Water and Dark:
